How To Root Samsung Galaxy Note 8 : Easy Step By Step Method

The rooting guide below will only work for the U.S. version (Non-Exynos Chip) of the Galaxy Note 8. If you have a device different from the mentioned, please refrain from using this guide. Also, do note that the rooting process will erase everything from your smartphone. Make sure you have a backup of all important data before you do the procedure below.
Follow the steps below to root Samsung Galaxy Note 8 the easy way.
Step 1. Download and install the latest Samsung drivers for your computer. You can get these from this link.
Step 2. Download the following software packages : Samfail System, Samfail Firmware and Odin. These will be used to flash your Galaxy Note 8. Can also download all files from this link. Save all three files in their own folder for convenience.
Step 3. Extract the downloaded files. Now go to the “Odin” folder and launch the Odin program.
Step 4. Power down your Note 8. Now put it into “Download Mode” by simultaneously pressing the Bixby, Power and Volume Down buttons. Keep pressing them until the display says you are in download mode. Connect the device to your computer by using the USB cable provided.
Step 5. In the Odin program, click the “AP” button and choose the “system.tar” file from the “SamFail System” folder.
Step 6. Now click on the “Pit” tab on the left panel of the Odin app and select the “.pit” file from the same folder.
Step 7. Next, select the “Options” tab and see to it that the following are checked : Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time, NAND Erase All, Re-Partition. The rest should be left “unchecked“.
Step 8. Click the “Start” button to begin the rooting process. Though it will show “Fail” when the process is completed, you will see that the root worked.
Step 9. Again, put the smartphone into “download” mode by doing the procedure in Step 4. Now the phone will indicate that it is in “Emergency Mode”. Do not panic as this is expected. Click “Reset” in Odin.
Step 10. In Odin, click on BL, AP, CP and CSC then choose the corresponding files for each. All files will be located in the same folder. Click on the “Options” tab again and make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked. All the rest should be unchecked.
Step 11. Now click on the “Start” button and your smartphone should reboot into recovery mode. If you see a message saying “Failed to Mount/System (Invalid Argument)“, then you did something wrong and you have to do the process again from the start. If you don’t see any message then you can continue.
Step 12. Now “Reboot” your smartphone by using the “Volume” buttons to navigate and the “Power” button to select.
Step 13. Setup the phone the “Normal” way once it has finished rebooting. Open the “SuperSu” app. The app will prompt you to update binaries.
Step 14. Select “Continue” in the SuperSu app. Follow the instructions on how to disable “KNOX“.
Step 15. Wait for the SuperSu app to finish everything. You will be prompted to reboot your phone. Proceed with the reboot. Your smartphone will reboot a couple of times and once finished, you can now enjoy and explore your newly rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
